Tell us about your business. We met in art school, in Rome, and found we had many (opposite) qualities that complemented each other. Our first collaboration was to "fix" each others work in a figure drawing class in 1984. Soon after school, we started making jewelry together, borrowing techniques from other media that we knew. What started out as fun exploration of an amazing material, sold right away out of a cardboard box taken around to stores. For the past 20 years, we've shown work at high end craft shows across the US (& twice in London). The longer we work, we find the deeper and more personal the work becomes. It's like anything else, once mastered, the medium is just a vessel for ideas.
What makes your business stand out?Our longtime collaboration and our constant interest to change the work within certain forms, and ideas of working.
What's the best business advice you've received?Pay your taxes, AND, don't try to make something for everyone; that is, find your voice and stick with it & you'll find the right audience for the work.
