Tell us about your business. What is now LV Wood was founded by my father in Buffalo NY. After having worked as a master antique refinisher, my father developed a true reverence for wood. In the early 1980’s he noticed the rising trend in wood flooring, watching as it gained in popularity over carpet and linoleum. In 1985 he opened Buffalo Hardwood in a modest storefront on Hertel Avenue in Buffalo. With his wife and partner Carolyn at his side, Pops and CC, as we affectionately called them, placed the company atop the wood flooring industry with unique, high end work. In 2008 I moved from Buffalo to NYC to open our store in the flat iron district, starting another chapter in our story. Today my sister and I run the company together, her back in our Buffalo headquarters and myself here in NYC. We are guided by the principals pops left for us, kindness to our clients, courage in our industry, and generosity to our community and the environment.
What makes your business stand out?We are one of the few wood flooring and surface manufacturers that makes the products 100% in the USA, out of all domestic woods. No exotic or rainforest woods are used in our production, ever. We also stain & finish all of our custom products by hand, which affords us an exceptionally high level of creative freedom, and artistic range.
What's the best business advice you've received? My father taught us that, in order to be successful, you must be kind, you must be courageous, and you must be generous.
