Tell us about your business. When Fischer was founded in 2009, I felt there was a void in the market for special, interesting items that are meant to sustain for years and made in the USA. It's really the beginning of a slow-fashion movement that's gained momentum over the past few years. People want the connection of knowing where and who their products are coming from. There's a need to move away from the waste created by fast-fashion and the labor abuse involved in keeping the prices so low. The pieces and their packaging use almost all natural materials, so that when they eventually meet the end of their life cycle, they can go back to the earth. Everything is biodegradable. For the future of Fischer, I hope to keep a slow, measured expansion, including a retail storefront that will offer alterations and repairs as a way to keep the clothing lasting longer. When I am able to hire on employees, I hope to create a comfortable, flexible environment where quality of life and product are equally important.
