2014 Style Winner

Richelle Dynae & Paige Showalter

Eugene, Oregon
We specialize in custom couture costumes for girls. Our handmade costumes combine thoughtful design with high quality construction and fabrics.

Tell us about your business.

Ella Dynae was started in 2012 by American costume and fashion designer Richelle Dynae. While working as a freelance designer in London she received international recognition and several international design awards including one costume that currently resides in the permanent collection of the World of Wearable Art Museum in New Zealand. In late 2011 Richelle returned to her home town of Eugene, Oregon and began focusing exclusively on children’s costumes. Over the next 9 months Ella Dynae Designs began to evolve and was launched in July 2012. Each and every costume is handmade to order in our studio in Oregon and our clientele includes customers from the US, Canada, Australia, England, Italy and Finland. In 2013 Ella Dynae Designs joined forces with stylist and event designer Paige Showalter to create a line of handmade party products. In the future we would love to expand our collection to include a line of costumes and party products for boys!

What makes your business stand out?

Every Ella Dynae costume is handmade in a custom size just for you in our studio in Eugene, Oregon. Our products use high quality materials that combine elegance and durability with stunning results. All of our fairy wings are painted by hand and embellished with handmade organza roses. Our tutus use only the softest bridal tulle and our leotard bodices are made in 4 way stretch velvet with top stitched seams and soft insides. Each product has been carefully designed to ensure that it’s versatile, elegant and comfortable. Every surface that touches the skin is soft, and our costumes stretch comfortably to fit your child for up to 3 years.

What's the best business advice you've received?

At Ella Dynae Designs our primary aim is to create the best product we can for our customers. The best business advice we received was to concentrate on what customers really want; quality, service and value. Essentially the advice was always to remember that, "it’s not about us, it’s about our customers” - we listen, test and constantly improve our products based on reviews, feedback and new ideas. Before one of our products is listed for sale, it undergoes extensive testing and refinement in the hands of real children and their parents. As all of our products are hand crafted in the US, we can constantly improve the designs based on this invaluable input; ensuring that our products maintain the quality our customers both deserve and have come to expect.
