Tell us about your business.

I originally moved down to New Orleans to source Alligator from the Bayou to start a line of exotic belts. It quickly transformed into a jewelry & accessory business once I discovered the backbones underneath the skin on the Alligator. I realized I had more creative license with jewelry and it vastly widened my target market. One of my core advantages is that I make everything and have built my supply chain with microscopic focus to detail and I' aware of where every piece of jewelry that I put out comes from. I build each piece with a story that educates the customer about a specific aspect of New Orleans & Bayou culture. I use raw materials from alligator teeth to agate which is Louisiana's state mineral. I also give 5% of proceeds back to The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana. I plan to turn Porter Lyons into a lifestyle brand, staying true to my mission of aiding different relief efforts based on which culture the item is inspired by. Culture. Care. Create.
