American Made Since 1994

The Art in hat making is finding a balance between fun and practicality. I enjoy creating hats ranging from one end of the spectrum to the other.

Tell us about your business.

I am a one person studio specializing in sewn hats from fine fabrics such as wool and linen. I have developed my own patterns through trial and error over the course of 20 years of hat making experience. I have always loved hats and began sewing at the age of 10. I would like to grow my on-line presence and concentrate on the styles of hats that give me the most creative challenge. I entered a local Art Fair on a whim and have been in the business ever since.

What makes your business stand out?

Hat making in itself is still rather unusual, but even more so is the fact that I do everything myself. I like to make all of my hats and all of my own embellishments, prefering to make a faux silk feather or adding my own hand made buttons.

What's the best business advice you've received?

When chatting with a fellow Craftsman at an Art Fair he asked if I was going to the Smithsonian Craft Show. I said I didn't think I'd get in. "You don't know till you try" , he said. So I did apply and I got in!!
