American Made Since 2010
As a beauty brand developer, I helped other people build their own brands so I had a profound understanding of what it takes to succeed. Once I felt the need to create my own, I took time each day to visualize the brand and to write the business plan, which took 6 months+ to perfect. I realized I had to connect to an idea emotionally for me to move forward. Some people use much more logic where I relied on my feeling. I had a lot of help. Former colleagues and friends connected to the idea and they wanted to help. For example, I had help with the financial plan because it wasn't my strength. Once I had a viable business plan and had a few products made, I was connected with the right investors. I started in 2006 and the brand launched in 2011. Our business is evolving into an integrative skincare company beyond clinical solutions. Skin is just one aspect of a healthy body. We aim to be a resource center to better promote women's health and to connect other health experts.
What makes your business unique?mybody is the first integrative clinical skincare line that combines new biomimetic skincare technologies for faster, more visible results but without typical irritation or down-time. With new advances, such as topical probiotics and smart bioactive peptides, the products help stimulate the body’s own reparative response to reduce unwanted inflammation. Our aim is to support women's health by creating awareness beyond surface skin conditions. Since I have hypothyroid condition and my partner is a two-time breast cancer survivor, what we put on our bodies is extremely important. By providing products backed by science and sold by physicians, women are encouraged to learn more about their skin, incorporating good skincare as part of a healthier lifestyle. With well-being at the core, we support hormonal balance with products that are free of xenoestrogens. The name mybody reminds us that our skin and our bodies work in unison. The heart symbolizes self-love and a positive outlook.
What's the best business advice you've received?Don't start a business unless your absolutely passionate about it. Passion = perseverance. Have faith in yourself, trust your instincts and allow others to help you. When you are connected to something bigger than you, anything is possible. Having a bit of blind confidence helps too. Never believe your own hype and don't run out of money ;)
