Edie's Place An Eco-Therapeutic Farm
Donny & Elizabeth Oluokun
Tell us about your business.Edie's Place started because it was our way of life as a home schooling family and we wanted to share these experiences with others. Our program reconnects people with nature and creativity. Through hands on experiences with gardening, animals, and art. Classrooms turn into greenhouses. School gardens turn in to outdoor classrooms. They inspire, teach and unify the students. The students will care for and beautify their new gardens through hard work, physical activity, and hand made art. Harvest from the garden can be eaten, sold and used to create new items such as hand made natural soaps, sauces and relishes, for later sales at local Farmers' Markets. This full circle program educates students on science and health topics. Provides understanding of where food comes from and promotes healthy eating. It instills environmental stewardship and an entrepreneurial spirit in our youth. At the same time it offers a therapeutic effect of releasing stress and keeping us all grounded.
What's the best business advice you've received? Our famous quote that we use to keep us going is "Sometimes we have to put the cart before the Goat!" More good advice came from the movie Nemo "Just keep swimming, just keep swimming"
