Atlanta Institute of Stitches & Crafts
Tell us about your business. The Atlanta Institute of Stitches & Crafts was born from a passion for handmade & the empowerment to make something yourself. Sarah grew up in a creative household, with a mom that always responded to her desperate shopping pleas with "we can make that!". Realizing she wouldn't always get what she wanted in the shops, she shadowed her mom during late night sewing sprees to really learn how to make it all herself. In true apprentice style, she snipped her moms threads, loaded the embroidery hoops, and took on traditional crafts before she knew the bond she was forming with her beloved materials. After earning her degree in Anthropology Sarah was a bit unsure of where to go next. Her love for school was losing a battle for her love of crafting, and she decided to follow her dream to be her own boss, make things she loved everyday, and spend as much time as possible sewing! Now she spends her days scouting out the most beautiful supplies, to inspire others the way she was inspired.
What makes your business stand out?We strive to create an all-inclusive craft environment, blending traditional crafts for the modern maker, inspiring others to reach outside their limits and explore tactile inspiration. We want knitters to sew, paper crafters to knit, and generally bring together those communities to make their world a more beautiful space, together.
What's the best business advice you've received?Form bonds, talk business later. Everything I do is about forming relationships, and it makes every day that much more enriching.
