Growth Chart Art
American Made Since 2010
When my children were little, I scoured the internet for a growth chart that I could hang in my living room and couldn't find one. Being an artist/ woodworker (self-taught), I made one. I soon found myself creating more designs and selling them to the neighbors and beyond. And thus, Growth Chart Art (GCA) was born. We now offer over sixty designs. They are all made in our New Hampshire factory (an huge old New England barn) of eco-friendly and sustainable components. We start with beautiful, original artwork and print it directly onto Baltic birch plywood (high end, formaldehyde free) with no-voc inks. Then we hand sand each one to perfection and apply a satin coating made from whey (whey is a by-product of cheese making). Our aim at GCA is to create family heirlooms and to create a growth chart empire (tongue-in-cheek). In addition to adding more stylish designs we will soon offer custom creation/printing of artwork uploaded by clients.
What makes your business unique?Growth Chart Art is unique in that it offers the most stylish array of growth chart designs on the market. This is intentional - our growth charts are designed to grow with your children and become part of your home’s decor – something that can be moved out of the nursery and into a space where parents and grandparents can enjoy being reminded of all the stages that their children and grandchildren have grown through. In addition, we are committed to making all our products in the USA and never anywhere else. We stand behind every chart we make and offer a lifetime guarantee on each one.
What's the best business advice you've received? The thing I often think about was spoken to me by my late husband (he passed away last year). Shortly after launching GCA in 2010, I was having an entrepreneurial moment and was feeling overwhelmed. And he said, "Ellen, if it were easy, everyone would do it." And in that moment, I remembered that I don't want to be like everyone else; that I need to be me. And being me, meant working just a bit harder to bring my dream to reality.
