Gifts of Love Pottery
Tell us about your business.I was taking a class in ceramics and then wanted to expand my knowledge so I took ceramics at the college in my town. Where I learned to throw on the wheel and slab roller using stoneware clay. I love nature and leaves and ferns are what I use the most in my designs. No two are exactly alike I like them hand made, just like life, it is not perfect and neither is my pottery. They are thrown on the wheel or I use the slab roller for my creations. I sell my items at craft shows and Etsy. I also teach the pine needle basket coiling on my pottery bases at basket conventions.
What makes your business stand out? They are made one at at time. I use nature with my work so it makes each one unique. The pine needle baskets turn out different with each one I create. It is endless designs that one can create using nature.
What's the best business advice you've received?Use your own designs and ideas, do not copy others. Do not give up because of a bad show or slow year. Don't be afraid to try something different. I think you have to do more than just one thing. I make pottery bowls and platters, pine needle baskets and recycled bottles.
