Tell us about your business.My inherited and thriving entrepreneurial spirit matched with immense passion for baking since I was a child (thanks to my mother and partner Pam), has fostered a desire to operate my own company. I continuously baked and created gourmet cookies/cakes, planned parties, and catered events for family/friends, with the dream of doing some part of this as a business in the future. While doing this, I’ve turned my hobby into a business, Just Pizzelles, which has steadily grown in demand and, by all indications, has an extremely promising future. Over the last several years, I’ve also been teaching part-time at a local business college, which not only allows me to share my vast knowledge and passion for business ownership, but also to mentor and enlighten others with their aspirations.The business has plans to expand the products to include an appetizer line, a future baby line, wholesale distribution, novelty frozen treat line, and of course more tantalizing flavor experiences-going mobile!
What makes your business stand out?The company has managed to convert a traditional Italian cookie into a fresh innovative, specialty item with a ‘twist’ that ships world-wide as promised. We provide consumers a calorie-conscious specialty gourmet treat that is both petite in size and has a unique flaky texture. Our pizzelle cookies are elegantly packaged allowing for a visually stunning presentation that clients can fully customize for any occasion. We offer an exceptional product with style and luxury, while pleasing all senses and taste palettes. We strive for innovation by constantly researching changing trends in a multitude of industries. This allows us to ‘change up’ the varieties of flavors, usage of cookies in everyday applications, and markets, which all play a major role with product line expansion on a continual basis. We recently created products to reach a growing demographic of food consumers – now available are sugar-free and gluten-free versions of the majority of flavors - a healthy/tasty alternative
What's the best business advice you've received?"There is no dress rehearsal for life - you just go live it!" I love thinking of this and it fits me perfectly - never willing to stop exhausting all possibilities and having ‘pie in the sky’ aspirations, I am extremely determined to make this brand an overnight success in a short period of time by finding the right resources and efforts. I attribute my success to the ethics and lessons - and of course baking - that was instilled through my mother and business partner, Pam King. Although pizzelles may not bring world peace, we believe they will bring enjoyment to the world and allow people to experience the ‘little things’ that make life so special to enable lasting memories and connect us all by the power of food!
