Tell us about your business.

I started my business when I knew that the regular 9-5 world was not for me. I wanted to define my day and lifestyle not have my job do it for me. I wanted creative control and to create things that allow women to express themselves through dressing. I opened the door on my long closeted love of fashion and re-taught myself the skills to make what was in my head, things inspired by the Age of Aquarius, rockers like Steven Tyler, and bohemian touches. Since then I have sold pieces locally, nationally, and internationally. I long to continue this growth into a truly self sustaining business that allows me to travel, collaborate/consult with major fashion lines, and have a celebrity clientele. My process most often begins with the material. The texture and color often determines the simplicity of the stitches. Then I play with shape and drape to determine how bold the piece wants to be.

What makes your business stand out?

I feel that what makes my business unique is the same thing that makes every business unique, the individual behind it. Each and every business owner's vision is built on her or his definition of value. American's are unique for not only our desire to be entrepreneurs but that we, the owners, are able to define that entrepreneurship for ourselves and that our society encourages it so grandly. In an indirect way, I am inspired by this spirit and take it into my work by designing fearlessly and being in love with experimenting. I want to my customers to tap into defining themselves and expressing they're fearlessness.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Do what you can with what you have where you are, the rest will come.
