Cake Cake started 2 years prior to our opening in August 2011 unbeknownst to me. I have been an avid bread baker for several years when our youngest daughter of 3, was the first and only of all of our children to be hospitalized at 7 days old. I knew that her life was going to be a little different from our other two. At age 1 she was diagnosed with Asthma, and a host of allergies which included Wheat, Barley and Rye. At that point I slowly started making more changes to her diet . After a lot of research took the plunge and stopped using wheat all together. I found and created tasty recipes that had my friends and family commenting on getting my products in a store. One day in our local market I asked how to become a vendor and soon started selling products there. We take our processes seriously, fresh baked from scratch, full of flavor, moisture and NO GRIT, no gmo's, nuts, or soy! We see Cake Cake in more grocery stores country wide and becoming more of a household name.
What makes your business unique?My products are made without compromising texture, or flavor. We don't accept that Gluten Free will have a gritty and dry texture. We have gotten rid of that and maintain a grit-less, moist and flavorful product. This is why we can roll pie crust and it not fall apart in our hands. This is Truly Unique to Gluten Free :)
What's the best business advice you've received?Do what your good at! Stay in your own wheelhouse...Never give up! Small business is more about giving lots of effort. Lots of effort rather than having and spending lots of $$.
