Tell us about your business.

Southern California was the genesis of my adventures in the cosmetics of olive oil, which was used by my family since I was a little girl. Not only was the golden state home to the gold rush of 1848 and springtime’s burst of golden poppies, but as a graduating senior in 1991 it became my new home and the birthplace of my skin and hair’s experience with liquid gold. This journey led to handcrafting pure castile soaps and a moisturizer to complement its cleansing power. Olive butters were born and family and friends have been enjoying them for over 12 years. Since returning to Maryland, II Kings 4:7 gave me the courage to turn my bliss into a business and The Eden Company began to show up at local farmer’s markets. Eden’s products are 100% natural, freshly handcrafted, and delivered to local markets, which ensures the highest nutrient value. Eden will expand to other markets and main street by training local artisans and community liaisons in the art of skin care -the golden way.

What makes your business stand out?

The Eden Company believes that fresh is best and this is the key to its uniqueness. All products are made to order, preservative free and handcrafted with natural ingredients that have a long shelf life. As the company scales, the manufacturing process will continue to celebrate hand-craftsmanship by focusing on the production of small batches, created with the best ingredients and delivered from Eden’s kitchen to the local market or the customer’s doorstep. A portion of the proceeds will be used to fund educational initiatives that support, build, and develop classroom teachers.

What's the best business advice you've received?

The best business advice I have received comes from II Kings 4:7, which states, ".... And he said, Go, sell the oil, and pay thy debt, and live thou and thy children of the rest."
