Nicole Shannon Design, LLC is a sustainable jewelry design company dedicated to eco-friendly and ethical business practices.

Tell us about your business.

I started my business in 2009 after graduating from college & working in the jewelry field for 7 years. I wanted to start a business that could give me the opportunity to create handcrafted eco-friendly jewelry for my customers that was unique & sentimental. I wanted to create jewelry that was more than just an accessory like the mass-produced jewelry of commercial industry. I wanted to create jewelry that was art. For this reason all my pieces are handcrafted in-house at my studio in St. Petersburg, FL to assure the highest level of craftsmanship. In a commitment to sustainable design all my designs are made out of eco-friendly materials including recycled sterling silver & gold as well as ethically sourced gem stones. Over the years I have expanded my designs to include one-of-a-kind eco-friendly clothing designs for runway shows & special events. These designs include materials such as recycled bronze, re-purposed inner tube rubber, recycled cotton, & sustainable bamboo fabric.

What makes your business stand out?

My business is unique because I strive to make each jewelry piece a conscientious work of art. My dedication to eco-friendly design & handcrafted quality is only part of the passion that drives my work. I love the close relationship that jewelry has with its wearer. It is often exchanged for special occasions, worn to remind us of significant events, or used as symbols of the promises we keep & the people we love. For this reason, I take great care in the creation of my jewelry designs in hopes that each piece will bring joy to its wearer & inspire them as it takes on meaning for them & plays a part in their personal story.

What's the best business advice you've received?

The best advice I have ever received was from my Mother when she told me not to give up on my passion to be an artist because my deep desire to create is part of who God made me to be. As any artist knows it can often be a struggle to survive as a professional artist. I am so thankful to both my parents, to my amazing husband & to all my family for their amazing support & encouragement.
