Twisted Tomboy™

American Made Since 2012

Eric & Daphne Slife

Wenatchee, Washington
Mix 1 part '11-year old entrepreneur' with 1 part 'determination' and you have us. A bath & beauty line with a twist on business as usual.

Tell us about your business.

Every company has their 'story' . . . here's mine! Twisted Tomboy began when I was 11-years old by making lip balms and sugar scrubs to help pay for my soccer fees. I’m a self-described tomboy who loves soccer, volleyball, biking, and building the occasional fort with my brother. So obviously you see I'm a tomboy. Here's the 'twist' . . . I like to be girlie too. I enjoy a good lip balm, nail polish, soap, perfume and smelly lotion. I figure if I'm going to sweat, I better look good doing it, right? In 5th grade, I was nominated to be Jr. Apple Blossom Princess in my hometown. Many times I would go straight from a soccer game to go fulfill my princess duties. Now if that isn't a twisted tomboy, I don't know what is! As I mentioned, I started making our Twisted Tomboy products for friends. Soon, we were getting orders from all over the U.S. So I said to myself, "Hey, maybe I could make a little business out of this!" So there you have it . . . welcome to Twisted Tomboy™. - Savannah

What makes your business stand out?

We have a story. A story of a persistent 11-year old girl who bugged her parents to help her start her business. What began by just making lip balms and body scrubs for friends has now grown into a full-fledged, full-time job for the entire family. The moral of this story? Never underestimate a child with a really good idea . . . sometimes their optimism is just what we need.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Two quotes we live by: 'Life begins at the end of your comfort zone' 'If it's got to be, it's up to me' We've learned to take chances in what we believe in . . . because we are the only ones who can make it happen!
