ripe

American Made Since 2012

Adriana S.

Los Angeles, California
I make handmade lip balms, lip scrubs, perfumes and other bath + beauty essentials that evoke a sense of being ripe for the picking.

Tell us about your business.

Selling bath and beauty products on Etsy started with a quest for a great coconut lip balm and when I realized that I could make my own I discovered I wanted to make more flavors than just coconut. Pretty soon I was discovering the world of handmade bath and beauty and I haven't looked back since. Inspiration comes from the idea of something being just right for the picking - fruits, herbals, essentials, nature, pleasant smells, the unexpected and in some cases a line from a book. All of my products are handmade by me in small batches, with mainly natural, high quality body-safe ingredients, with no unnecessary preservatives, no dyes, and no animal testing. I do carry several vegan and nut-free products as well. I am continually playing around with new scent and flavor combinations and I hope to continue to find inspiration in the ripeness that surrounds me.

What makes your business stand out?

Unique and lively flavor and scent combinations, a fresh perspective and presentation, and a commitment to quality, customer service and affordability. Anything that I don't make myself, I source from mainly American manufacturers and companies, including other Etsy shops. Some of my top selling flavors and scents include the red velvet lip balm, the salted caramel lip balm, the earl grey chamomile perfume oil and the coconut perfume oil.

What's the best business advice you've received?

The best advice I've ever gotten was something my dad always told me as I was growing up, which is that sometimes the best thing to do is keep your mouth shut and listen, that way when you do speak you will have a much better understanding of what you are going to communicate. I think that can wholly be applied to business as well.
