Design,

Tell us about your business.

Creative Candles has been in continuous operation in Kansas City, Missouri since 1961. We are the 3rd set of owners purchasing the company in 2005 and we are committed to honoring the production methods and preserving the quality of the product for which we are known. Creative Candles is known for offering the widest variety of colors, shapes and sizes of smokeless, dripless non-fragrance candles. We strive to develop new offerings such as the 8 metallic coatings of 12" tapers, 3x6 pillars and 6" and 15" Celebration tapers. Our team of artisans includes employees who have been with the company for over 20 years. In 2014 we are investing resources to serve international markets by exhibiting at European Gift Shows. Our candles can be found at independent gift shops across America as well as used by event planners and magazine editors. We also are very proud of our high-profile private label partners.

What makes your business stand out?

Creative Candles is one of a handful of domestic candle manufacturers who still hand-dips and hand-pours candles. Our fragrant free line of candles is known for color and burn quality. Our artisan methods enable us to custom produce in small batches to meet the requirements of some unique customers. We emphasize craftsmanship and high quality ingredients over mass production and cost saving techniques. Since our sophisticated candles are frequently used at important events and in special venues, we like to say, "we don't care if we're not invited just as long as our candles are." For discriminating individuals who want the best look for their home, event or celebration, Creative Candles is the clear choice.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Keep the candle formulation but update the packaging. Focus on the customers and strive to meet their needs. There will always be a market for high-quality, well-made products.
