Tell us about your business.Vegetabowls began 3 years ago while I was teaching a ceramics class. I asked my students to each bring in a fruit or vegetable for a lesson on slip-casting and plaster mold-making. I used a cantaloupe for my demonstration because of its amazing texture. When the bowl was ready for glaze, I couldn't resist the bright orange interior color of the cantaloupe. The finished bowl reflected the beauty of its edible inspiration. When I brought it home to Justin he was amazed. He said, "we have to make all kinds of fruit and vegetable bowls.... vegetabowls!" And so we did. We now have about 20 different products. Needless to say, grocery shopping has not been the same since! Our line is constantly evolving and expanding with each trip to the farmer’s market and each passing season. Vegetabowls aims to support local farming and local businesses, healthy eating, and an appreciation for handmade functional house wares.
