Tell us about your business.

My background is in graphic design and marketing, but I didn't fall in love with the wedding planning process until after I planned my wedding day. I used my design background and love for all things vintage to start Oh, What Love. Last July, I made the quit my lead design position in the corporate world to focus on my dreams. Since then I've figured out the exact type of brides I want to work with and have grown my wedding and design business through blogging, guest posting on other blogs and speaking at Alt Summit. I love being able to share my love of design and DIY with brides from around the country. In March, I decided to grow my offerings & opened an antique store with my husband, which allows me to have access to all the vintage pieces I could ever want. I am able to rent out vintage, one of a kind pieces to brides to use in their big day. I hope to someday have my own invitation suites, write a book and become internationally known for my designs & antique store.

What makes your business stand out?

My business is unique because I have a unique set of skills and offerings. I've combined my passions into a business that I am absolutely in love with. So many people wake up in the morning and go to a job that they despise, and I get to live out my dream everyday. I'm a true romantic - I love a good love story and I love to find out the history behind the pieces that grace the floors of my antique shop, and that's what makes my job so much fun.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Some of the best business advice I've ever received was from a video on storytelling from Ira Glass. He talks about when we start out, we all have great passion but we aren't the best at our craft just yet. He talks about creating & working at it until you hit the point where you're really good at what you do. I love to listen to this video when I've been comparing myself to other businesses that are ahead of me. It really gives me the hope that if I keep on working at it, I will get to where I want to be someday and that gives me the drive to keep on creating.
