Tell us about your business.

American job creation is at the heart of our mission. Independence LED was formed in 2010 when the company changed focus from the residential energy efficiency market to commercial LED lighting. Our first decision: move our LED tube manufacturing plant from China to Boyertown, PA. We proudly combine the Green Jobs, Energy Jobs, High Tech Jobs, Manufacturing Jobs, and new Job Training listed in the JOBS category at the top of the Obama Administration’s list of priorities for economic recovery. National clients of our American made LED tubes have ranged from the Fortune 100, to the public sector with the first Veterans Affairs (VA) Hospital, NAVY ships, and most recently with the State Department for a pilot project. Our hard work is being recognized - we recently won the Urban Green Council’s award for the Best Lighting Retrofit. We plan to continue our quest to transform Philadelphia from the home of American Independence to the home of American Energy Independence

What makes your business stand out?

A key center of pride, and economic growth, is our focus on EXPORTING our American made product overseas. We are now fulfilling a 30,000 tube order for seven Hospitals in the Republic of Slovakia. Other foreign markets include the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, Brazil and Benelux (Belgium, Netherlands, and Luxemburg). Independence LED is committed to supporting the global community through the First Light Project ( - an international service program that provides high-efficiency, long lasting and reliable light to enable higher levels of medical care, education and civic development for the Developing World. In our quest to transform Philadelphia from the home of American Independence to the home of American Energy Independence we offer several multi-million dollar Grant Programs including those for Women, Minority, & Veteran Owned Businesses, and U.S. manufacturers.
