Tell us about your business.

Business partners Jason Brownlee and William Evert found common ground in Asheville, NC, where their mutual passions for fly-fishing, ecology and creative carpentry served as the driving force behind French Broad Boatworks. The pair worked for years fine-tuning their current designs, now offering clients custom wooden drift boats and paddle boards in addition to guided river tours. Aided by solar charged, electric motors, these boats are ideal for fly-fishing, birding, and wildlife enthusiasts. Each vessel is hand-made with care and pride. Evert and Brownlee hope to inspire environmental stewardship and a appreciation for hand-made quality with their custom river vessels.

What makes your business stand out?

French Broad Boatworks is one of the few river boat companies in the U.S locally building custom wooden river boats on the east coast. The addition of the electric Torqeedo motor makes our product not only efficient but environmentally sound. Each boat and paddle board is made with the highest quality materials. We take pride in every step of the building process.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Do not sacrifice quality...for any reason, ever.
