We are a little print company of home goods. Some are cheeky, some are pretty, all are created by hand with love in our Colorado home studio.

Tell us about your business.

Urban Bird & Co. started as a little seed back in 2008. I started having images of home goods I wished I had in my own home. I had taught myself how to screen print in 2005 and used that to start sketching out ideas. It wasn't until I had my son in late 2010 that I finally took the leap and opened the shop I had been planning in my head for two years. All our designs begin with a memory, a moment, a nostalgic feeling, a loving word, or a bit of wit. From there we design a product that reminds us of a piece of our lives and hope it either does the same for others or inspires them to create moments in their own lives. To celebrate the little moments. We see our little business expanding every day, it's a living thing, and we can see how much our work has evolved over the last couple years. We hope to expand into other areas of products someday such as more gifts, paper goods and other home goods like pillows, table cloths etc.

What makes your business stand out?

We consider ourselves makers of reclaimed memories. We take memories, nostalgic feelings and moments from our own lives and turn them into products that will either remind the recipient of their own experiences or will help to create new ones in their lives.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Comparison is the thief of joy. -Theodore Roosevelt Avoiding the comparison trap is what keeps us focused. Knowing we are on our own business path and not someone else's is what keeps us rich in tenacity and audacity.
