Scout Regalia

American Made Since 2008

Benjamin Luddy & Makoto Mizutani

Los Angeles, California
Scout Regalia is a Los Angeles based multitasking design practice that aspires to create timeless objects, products, and spaces. Made in the USA.

Tell us about your business.

Established in 2008 with Benjamin Luddy and Makoto Mizutani, Scout Regalia is a Los Angeles based, multitasking design practice obsessed with the design and fabrication of space, furniture, home products, graphic identities, material processes, and sustainable living. Embracing both the unassuming and ornamental aspects of design, Scout Regalia celebrates the inherent design of everyday living. Working with fabricators we know and supporting stateside businesses is an important part of how we work. Our entire line of furniture is made in Los Angeles, including our SR Ranger Stool, SR Outdoor Table Sets, SR Garden Kits, and SR Bookcases. The Scout Regalia Bicycle is hand built and assembled in Philadelphia. Scout Regalia can be translated to “humble ornament”. It's part of our vision for design that is modern without being sterile; warm without being fussy. We aspire to create objects and spaces that are inviting and can evoke a sense of community.

What makes your business stand out?

Everything we design is made in the USA and all of our furniture is made here in Los Angeles. Working with fabricators we know and trust and supporting local businesses is at the core of our manufacturing ethos. It can be challenging at times but rewarding at multiple levels. By working locally, we’re able to provide numerous custom options for our products. Our SR Outdoor Table Sets come in either FSC certified redwood or domestic white oak hardwood, in addition to a selection of 210 powder coat options for the aluminum. Working locally means having a closer dialogue with your customer and providing a product that meets the specific needs of each of person. And at the end of the day, we also know that we’re supporting small businesses here in the states and helping them grow alongside our office.
