We pride ourselves on not only producing the best equipment in the industry, but more importantly, providing the information needed to succeed.

Tell us about your business.

Brushy Mountain Bee Farm (BMBF) was established in 1977 through the desire to have an agricultural based business in rural North Carolina. Utilizing existing farm buildings in the Brushy Mountains in Wilkes County, N.C., a mail order supply business was started. Since the humble beginnings, BMBF has started thousands of beekeepers across the country so they can have honeybees to pollinate their gardens, as well as small and large farms. We not only manufacture the best equipment in the industry, but we provide tools beekeepers need to succeed. We have introduced several exclusive items such as our English Garden Hive, a smaller, lighter hive, which makes beekeeping more accessible. BMBF was the first, and is the only bee supply company to produce a line of teaching videos covering most aspects of beekeeping We were the first to bring a “green”, Thymol based mite treatment to market, and we are the only company offering free educational webinars on beekeeping and products of the hive.

What makes your business stand out?

We don't look at ourselves as a company supplying the beekeeping community, rather we see ourselves are part of the community. We do this because we are passionate about honeybees and understand the value and role they play in American agriculture. One third of every bit of food we consume is thanks to insect pollination. The Backyard beekeeper is critical to the industry and our food supply. We do this not because it is a business but because it is important.
