Lori Birchfield

Mount Pleasant, Iowa
I make homemade, handmade decor and keepsakes with my daughter to sell. They are all unique, no two are alike. I will custom design.

Tell us about your business.

I was injured in a moving vehicle accident and found myself very depressed, not able to work like I had previously in the past. My mom brought home a few colored wine bottles and said a few of her co-workers wanted to know if I would paint on them for them. I loved art in school and really loved my flowers and thought, "what have I got to loose?" and so came about the hummingbird feeders. I had a lot of other craft accessories laying around and thought I really enjoy this so I just kept going from there. And it is something my daughter helps me with, which makes us closer. I found myself feeling better overall, especially when I sold my first couple pieces.

What makes your business stand out?

That it is handmade one of a kind pieces made with love and has been helpful in my healing.

What's the best business advice you've received?

Don't get down if something doesn't look like you want it, try again and don't get discouraged. Believe in what you do!
