Inspiring, artisan jewelry that is earthy yet modern, edgy yet unassuming, trendy yet timeless.
Design,

Tell us about your business.

I’ve been a “closet” jewelry artist for years, manipulating metal as a way of escaping the chaos of life as a mom, author, entrepreneur, chauffeur, and on-call plumber. One day, a woman in Starbucks (yes, really) saw one of my bracelets and asked where she could buy it. The rest, as they say, is history. That said, if anyone had suggested even five years ago that at this point in my life I’d have 5 kids; 3 dogs; 2 fish; a studio filled with metal, files, and polishing wheels; and designs coming to me in the wee hours of night, I’d have laughed. Which is why I’m learning that planning is (somewhat) pointless. I’m passionate about creating modern yet timeless, meaningful pieces and collections that reflect my approach to life: sometimes deep, sometimes snarky, always honest. Recycled and upcycled materials are among my favorites, and each of my pieces is individually handmade, allowing for slight variations in each which only add to their spirit and character.

What makes your business stand out?

I've marched to the beat of my own drum since birth, so instead of designing to current trends, I design by allowing my pieces to decide for themselves what they want to be when they grow up. I then go into my closet (the only place where it's quiet) and pray that the design might start a revolution or catch the eye of Tim Gunn, Anna Wintour, or Melissa McCarthy.

What's the best business advice you've received?

"Find out who you are and be that person. That’s what your soul was put on this earth to be. Find that truth, live that truth, and everything else will come" -Ellen Degeneres. It's not necessarily business advice, but if applied to your business world as well as your non-business world, its impact is significant. (And, no, Ellen did not give this advice directly to me over lunch, but I like to pretend that she did.)
