Buy Me Love
Karyn Pickard & Chelsea Keesler
Tell us about your business.I finally realized I was supposed to be doing what my mom and I do best - making beautiful things and selling vintage from home. We'd discussed doing business together for years. I had been diagnosed with FMS. Mom was diagnosed with FMS and Lupus years ago, and had been selling vintage clothing on eBay for a decade by then. We work well together, so it made sense that we pursue our passions, while taking care of ourselves at the same time. A few months after opening our first Etsy shop, Mom was diagnosed with cervical cancer, and our business goals were put on hold. Though she's still in the aftermath of treatment, we're excited to build our business! We hunt local sales and stores for vintage treasures, and brainstorm constantly. We collaborate with local makeup artist and friend, Tiinia Auler, lending our pieces for photo shoots. We can't wait to have a studio where we can create together, expand our following, invite clients for custom orders, and models for fittings.
What makes your business stand out?By combining our talents, knowledge, and experience, we offer so much more to our customers, especially when it comes to custom orders and understanding what our target audience wants and needs to feel beautiful and unique. Our business is based on our love of family, our love of all things vintage, and we recycle and reuse materials to ensure our customers feel good in every way about being glamorous.
What's the best business advice you've received?Support other small businesses and entrepreneurs. Buying from and promoting others not only creates a sense of community between small business people, it gives you the opportunity to network and form relationships that will, in turn, benefit your business.
