Spur Design / PrestoBingo
Joyce Hesselberth & David Plunkert
Tell us about your business. We are designers and illustrators. My husband Dave Plunkert and I launched our studio, Spur Design in 1995. With our small team of designers and illustrators, we have had the pleasure of working with theaters, book publishers, magazines, newspapers, musicians and more. Some are big companies and some are small startups. We have clients down the street, and across the world. As much as we love our clients, we are also big believers in making our own projects. Our latest project, PrestoBingo Shapes, is a shape-learning app for kids and is available in the app store. We are very excited about this new phase of our business. We plan on many more apps in the future. The next app, PrestoBingo Colors, will be coming this fall!
What makes your business stand out?We work in a renovated factory building in the Hampden neighborhood of Baltimore. Since we are a husband and wife team, our three kids have spent a lot of time here with us. It's a second home to them. When they were little, they would ride their tricycle in circles through the studio. Now that they are a bit older, they come and paint next to us while we work. I love how we have been able to mix family and work.
