Freshly Given is a line of leather accessories for women. Through sustainable leather sourcing, the label creates simple beauty minus the fuss.

Tell us about your business.

Freshly Given started out of necessity and curiosity. I’d graduated from Duke with a degree in Computer Science, pretending the next job I landed would be "IT." Well, I am grateful for brick walls, and the one(s) I ran into. Figuratively of course. Ready eager and confused, my husband encouraged me to get a hold of myself and choose a different direction. Yes, that is allowed. Fast forward, I started with a blog to house my interests in Design, Good Times (not the show, though I do like it too), and Fashion. After the blog I started playing with leather and nose dived into life as a designer. You may ask if this is my full-time… Hallelujah YES!

What makes your business stand out?

I'm a tech girl turned designer who sources remnant leather from a local law enforcement accessories manufacturer. Everything about Freshly Given is unconventional!

What's the best business advice you've received?

Fail fast - keep moving.
