Tell us about your business.Ashley Conchieri believes the process is as important as the final product. She only uses traditional textile techniques like hand weaving, hand dyeing, felting, and painting directly onto fabric with dyes. After graduating from Mass College of Art and Design with a BFA in Fibers, Ashley Conchieri began her self titled label of hand woven accessories and apparel.
What makes your business stand out?Ashley Conchieri is primarily a one woman operation. She maps out her ideas, then designs, and carefully selects quality and sustainable yarn to weave with. She had the extraordinary opportunity of studying textiles and weaving in Glasgow at the Glasgow School of Art and Design in Scotland. This experience has influenced her design aesthetic and inspiration for her 'Armour line'. Her inspiration of armor from the Middle Ages juxtaposes with a soft yet feminine sensibility in her textiles. The goal is to create items that are innovative and timeless, while not necessarily following trends. Her favorite part of being in this business is growing relationships with customers. "When you hear from customers how much they love wearing their scarf or top, your remember why you love being a maker." -Ashley
What's the best business advice you've received? The best advice I've been given for me has been not to be afraid to just get out there ! I do believe the only way you can grow as a business and as a maker is to put your product out there and test the waters- otherwise how can you improve?
