Food,

Tell us about your business.

We started our business in 2011. I had been doing Caramel popcorn for years as gifts and we could never find good Gourmet popconr in our area. So my husband and I decided to start our own business here in Mooresville, NC. We make all our popcorn fresh to order. That way your popcorn is always fresh. We still make everything on the stove top by hand. We even sort the popped popcorn by hand after the popcorn is coated to make sure there are no big clumps of popcorn sticking together. We started out going to local events and back in April of this year we were contacted by a local store about suppling them with our popcorn. It has been going well so far and they are talking about adding us to another store in the area. If all goes well we would like to have our own store front with in the next couple years.

What makes your business stand out?

We feel that our hands on approch and making orders fresh makes us unique because most places you go for popcorn it has been sitting around for days. Our process makes sure your popcorn is as fresh as possible. We even ship priority mail so our popcorn arrives sooner so it stays fresher longer. We have also done reasearch on different sytles of bags for our product. We took thing we did not like and made them better for our customers.

What's the best business advice you've received?

The best advice to date was to scale back and start small and get a good cutomer base. Then make sure the area can support our business before jumping head first into a store front.
