Maleah Torney Photography
American Made Since 2008
Whether capturing intimate scenes of nature, old buildings or expansive landscapes, Maleah Torney’s photo imagery evokes memories of places seen, people loved, trips taken. Maleah has been interpreting the world around her through the lens of a camera since childhood and decided to make her passion a profession in 2008. A road trip enthusiast, Maleah finds inspiration for much of her imagery in the sights and scenes she discovers along the way. Besides capturing the beauty of the countryside, Maleah creates evocative imagery that she describes as modern day Americana. From old school billboards and industrial signage to aging buildings and small town carnival scenes, her photographic style has a vintage flair, yet retains a contemporary edge.......... My ultimate dream is to get my art into the hands of retail shops and build a flourishing wholesale business so that I may continue to pursue my two biggest dreams. Being a successful artist and being at home with my kids!
What makes your business unique?Being a self taught artist and a country girl at heart (who dearly loves the big city) I think has given me a dreamy perspective through the lens of things forgotten from out childhood. I often hear when someones looking at my art, " Oh I remember these, but I'd forgotten.....it reminds me of (usually followed by a special story from their own childhood)......" I continue to develop products and find more ways to utilize my art and fill more decorating/gift needs so that those memories are ever present. I think it's important to have things in our work and home environment that reminds of us a happier place and slower time. I think we all struggle to find that balance in this fast paced world!
What's the best business advice you've received? To never give up and believe in what I'm doing. Just because I may get a "no" doesn't mean I'm doing something wrong or my product is bad, it's just not the right fit for that person or business. Basically don't take it personally! Which is so much easier said than done, so I replay that line in my head often!
