Tell us about your business.Kokma Toys was formed in 2008 when I felt inspired to create my own designs while working as a freelance designer for various toy companies. My mission is to create fun and loving toys that are handcrafted here in the USA. My creative process is always fun! Inspiration comes from all sources, from the foods we eat, like cake, to fabrics, colors and glitter. My goal for Kokma Toys is to expand and create jobs here in my town of Beacon, New York. But mostly, I just want to create smiles on children's faces.
What makes your business stand out?I think what makes Kokma Toys unique is that my toys are made with quality materials at a competitive market price. I personally mass manufacture ALL my toys with my own hands. Sometimes my friends will come by and help me trace out patterns for some laughs and a good cup of coffee. Kokma Toys also creates toys and even mascot costumes for fundraisers! I meet with local school children and show them how their imagination through art can help an idea be created into an actual toy by bringing in samples of the development of some of my designs. I believe in giving back to the community as much as I can. It's my way of saying thank you to all the great folks who support my work.
What's the best business advice you've received?I think the best business advice I ever received was not to give up on my dream. Dreams to strive for take a lot of work, but will come true.
