Hat Lady

American Made Since 1984

Summerville, South Carolina
I design, knit and finish my hats. I try to offer a wide variety of designs to hit every persons taste. After 28 years, I have many options!

Tell us about your business.

I design, knit and finish every hat I sell. I love the design process, and my favorite moment is when a child's face lights up over the hat they have fallen in love with! I started in 1984 with a goal of being able to be home with my children. I never dreamed I would be doing this nearly 30 years later, but the business has grown as my family has grown. I love that I am in charge of my own destiny and can try and succeed (or fail) on my own.

What makes your business stand out?

I do not have a store front in the sense that most businesses do. I travel from one art show to another, set up my store in a 10 X 10 foot space, sell for the length of the show, and then move on to the next show. I travel with a 28 foot Camper trailer that I live in while I am on the road. I have traveled from Maine to Florida, even to Wyoming. I love what I do, but realize that a lot of people simply cannot understand what I do and why I do it.
