Elastic-Close Case How-To

This case requires only a few straight stitches. (The elastic is sandwiched between the felt pieces.)

Resources

Holland wool felt, in Ash, Carrot, and Sea Green, 18" by 18", from $8 each, achildsdream.com
Riche buttons, by Sun Felt, in Medium Gray, $6 for 3, purlsoho.com
Elastic, in Orange, $2.75 a yd., pacifictrimming.com

Materials

  • Rotary cutter (or scissors)
  • Felt
  • Elastic, 1 inch wide
  • Sewing machine and sewing supplies
  • Template

Steps

  1. Step 1

    Download and print template. Cut out felt pieces.

  2. Step 2

    Following template guidelines, fold felt and position a 14-inch length of elastic. Pin felt and elastic in place.

  3. Step 3

    Sew side seams and elastic.

    In the Mag, page 52 June issue you show the protectors for 2- i pad and the i pad mini or Kindle fire... were are these templates...???they are to have a pocket for earphones? and the tech case templates are not to be found

    Where are the template and instructions for the Kindle? Instructions on the second template are very vague. More detailed instructions would be helpful. Nice designs though.
