Copper Name Cards

Add some shine to your holiday table. Emboss guests' names into sheets of soft copper, and stick them onto blocks of painted wood.

How-To

Cut a 1-by-1 1/2-by-6-foot wooden plank into 3 inch pieces, and coat with paint (we chose to thin this yellow paint for a washed look). Let dry. Cut pieces of copper flashing to measure 1 1/4-by-2 3/4 inches. Print out names of guests to trace, and center it on top of the flashing, then carefully trace over each letter with an embossing tool, pressing firmly. Center and adhere the flashing to the wood with a layer of spray adhesive.

Copper sheets, 5 mm thick, 12' by 12", $30 for 4, basiccopper.com. Craft paint, by Martha Stewart Crafts, in Meadowlark, $2, michaels.com.
