Blood-Orange Soda

For kids, try a twist on a Shirley Temple, made with blood-orange syrup, maraschino cherries, and seltzer; for grown-ups, whip up a more potent mix of black vodka, lime juice, and black-cherry soda.

Ingredients

  • 24 maraschino cherries
  • Ice cubes
  • 16 ounces blood-orange syrup (preferably Monin)
  • 48 ounces seltzer

Directions

  1. Step 1

    Place cherries in ice-cube trays (1 cherry per cube), and fill with water. Freeze until frozen, about 4 hours.

  2. Step 2

    Divide cherry-filled ice cubes and plain ice cubes among eight 12-ounce glasses. Divide syrup among glasses; top with seltzer.
