Shimmery Corn Table Ornaments

Create an artful backdrop for your dishes by dipping the edges of black bamboo place mats in bleach. At each seat, an ear of dried miniature corn, its husks sprayed silver, unfurls elegantly on a platinum-rimmed plate and echoes the two-tone effect.

Materials

  • Masking tape
  • Ears of dried miniature corn
  • Metallic floral spray paint
  • Ribbon

Steps

    Wrap tape around kernels, covering completely.
  2. Step 2 of 4

    To soften husks, hold them over a steaming kettle for about 15 seconds. Pull husks over kernels, curling a few back and removing some as desired. Let dry, 15 to 30 minutes.
  3. Step 3 of 4

    Coat husks with spray paint, turning to cover completely; let dry.

    Remove tape, and knot ribbon around stems.
