Girl Scout S.W.A.P.S.

Girl Scouts exchange these handmade keepsakes, known as S.W.A.P.S. or Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere, when meeting new friends. Martha and Anna Maria Chavez, CEO of the Girl Scouts of the USA, crafted and traded their "swaps" during the show.

S.W.A.P.S. How-To

  1. Cut a scrap of felt a little bigger than chosen S.W.A.P.S. design. Paint scrap with three coats of glitter paint; let dry thoroughly.
  2. Print S.W.A.P.S. template. Staple S.W.A.P.S. template to glittered felt, making sure to place staples outside design. Cut out solid black shape with scissors or craft knife.
  3. Print another copy of template. Staple to plain wool felt; this time, cut the shape marked by the thin black line.
