Felt Carrot Pouch

Package Easter candy in a cute and affordable pouch from TV crafter Kristin St. Clair.

Materials

  • Carrots
  • Cling wrap
  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Orange and green felt
  • Pencil
  • Water
  • Straight pins
  • Fabri-tac
  • Screw punch
  • Orange cord
  • Candy

Steps

  1. Step 1

Select a big, fat carrot and wrap completely with cling wrap.

  2. Step 2

To create a template for the pouch, wrap a piece of letter-size paper around carrot and trim edges with scissors, leaving a 1/4-inch overlap.

  3. Step 3

With a pencil, trace template onto piece of orange felt and cut out.

  4. Step 4

Wet felt with water, stretch around carrot, and pin overlapping areas together. This will allow the felt to mold to the shape of the carrot.

  5. Step 5

Pull felt at the tip of the carrot and twist to shape. Let felt dry completely.

  6. Step 6

Once dry, remove pins and use Fabri-Tac to glue seam. Do this while the felt is still on the carrot. Once adhesive is dry, remove carrot.

  7. Step 7

To create top of carrot, cut strips of green felt into an asparagus shape of desired length and use scissors to fringe the end like a leaf.

  8. Step 8

Wet green felt and stretch carefully, delicately separating fringe at top. Let felt dry completely.

  9. Step 9

Once dry, bundle carrot tops together and knot at the end. Using Fabri-Tac, glue bundle onto backside of seam inside the top of the carrot. Let dry.

  10. Step 10

With a screw punch, make odd number of holes around the top edge of the carrot. Weave orange cord through holes.

  11. Step 11

Fill carrot with desired candy. Cinch cord and tie to secure candy inside.
