Project

Oversize Paper Roses

Create beautiful, larger-than-life roses using painted paper with this how-to from artist Noel Solomon of Fanciful Designs.

Materials

  • Two large (30-by-44-inch) sheets white paper
  • Interior latex paint in eggshell
  • Paintbrush
  • Glue

Steps

  1. Step 1

Paint two large sheets of paper with interior latex paint; let dry.

  2. Step 2

To create center bud, tear an 8-by-30-inch scallop-like pattern so white paper underneath paint shows on edges. Place glue along straight side; roll paper to create bud.

  3. Step 3

Make four 8-by-6-inch torn petal shapes and attach to bud.

  4. Step 4

Make four 10-by-7-inch torn petal shapes; attach to outside of flower.

  5. Step 5

Make six 14-by-10-inch torn petal shapes; attach to outside of flower.

  6. Step 6

Curl petals gently to complete flower.

I thought it was French Watercolor Paper.....good thing I recorded it on my DVR, will have to go back and watch again. A template would definitely be helpful, and pictures when making the scalloped edge to begin the bud.
