Project

Scrapbox

Materials

  • 12-inch square keepsake box (scrapbox or shadowbox)
  • Scrapbox frame mat template
  • Tape
  • Decorative 12-inch square paper
  • Craft knife
  • Stapler
  • 1/4-inch foam core
  • Lightweight fabric (we used black linen)
  • Duct tape
  • Specimen pins
  • Adhesive foam dots
  • Double-sided tape
  • Selection of memorykeeping items

Steps

  1. Step 1

Print four copies of the template for the scrapbox frame mat, trim on solid lines, and match up on dotted lines. The point where a star is marked on each template should be in the center. Tape templates together to make one large mat shape.

  2. Step 2

Trim a 12 by 12-inch piece of decorative paper to 11 3/4 inches square. Place template over paper and staple in place in the shaded part of the template (this is the part that will be discarded). Cut out shape to make frame mat or paper “window.”

  3. Step 3

Place paper against the glass inside of the scrapbox. Place spacer (included with frame) inside box behind paper.

  4. Step 4

Cut 1/4-inch thick foam core to fit frame, using back of frame as a guide. Cut a 14-inch square of fabric. Wrap fabric around foam core and secure with duct tape.

  5. Step 5

Attach items one by one to fabric-covered foam core and secure with specimen pins, double-sided tape and foam dots.
(Tip: Large letters and other items can be reduced on a scanner or photocopier to fit in the frame.)

  6. Step 6

Carefully place decorated foam core into frame, and replace frame backing.

Some experiments have raised questions on whether telomerase can be used as an anti-aging therapy, namely, the fact that mice with elevated levels of telomerase have higher cancer incidence and hence do not live longer. Certain premature aging syndromes have been associated with telomere shortening. But, telomerase also favors tumorogenesis, which leads to questions about its potential as an anti-aging therapy. On the other hand, one study showed that activating telomerase in cancer-resistant mic

    Martha,
I loved watching my daughter, Becky Foster, with you on your show making a scrap box. She was thrilled to be with you. Thank you for being such a wonderful role model for her. There is simply no one like you!
I wish you would drop by her home when you are in Plano as you open your line for JCPenney. Her home is definitely a Martha Stewart Jr. creation. You would adore her craft room.
It was a joy to see you two on television.
    Sincerely,
    Sandra Lindemood
