Cupcake Wrapper Flowers

Give the gift of beautiful -- and long-lasting -- flowers for Valentine's Day with these easy-to-make paper blooms.

Materials

  • Cupcake wrappers, mini and standard
  • Screw punch
  • Floral wire
  • Needle-nose pliers
  • Hot-glue gun
  • Floral tape
  • Wire cutters (optional)
  • Flower and fern stickers (optional)
  • Glitter (optional)

Steps

  1. Step 1

Using a screw punch fitted with smallest tip, punch a hole in center of three mini cupcake wrappers and three standard cupcake wrappers.

  2. Step 2

With needle-nose pliers, create small loop in one end of 18-inch piece of 18-gauge floral wire.

  3. Step 3

To create center of flower, apply hot glue to loop, thread one mini wrapper onto wire and pinch around loop.

  4. Step 4

Repeat for remaining two wrappers, applying a small dab of hot glue at the base of each and pinching into place.

  5. Step 5

To create outer petals of flower, thread one standard cupcake wrapper onto wire, line up edge with center petals, pinch bottom of wrapper and twist into place.

  6. Step 6

Pull wrapper down wire slightly, apply dab of hot glue to base of center petals and slide wrapper back into place.

  7. Step 7

Repeat for remaining two wrappers, applying a small dab of hot glue at base of each and pinching and twisting into place.

  8. Step 8

With floral tape, wrap stem, starting at base of flower and continuing to end.

  9. Step 9

With wire cutters, trim stem to desired length and fluff petals as desired.

  10. Step 10

For added detail, use hot glue to attach flower and fern stickers to looped floral wire, glitter back of fern stickers, and wrap stems with floral tape.

What a brilliant idea....Im going to get the supplies together & put them all in the kid's craft box....I know what they will be doing on their next visit. Lucky for me I have a low heat hot glue gun that they can use. Thank you for the inspiration
    Hugs from Aus :)

These flowers are awesome. SO easy and look so much like real carnations. I made up a vase full in no time. If you use some outrageous colors they can be very funky!
