Sparkling Red-Wine Cocktails

Source: Everyday Food, January/February 2012


  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 5 1/2 cups Lambrusco or other sparkling red wine
  • 24 ounces sparkling orange beverage, such as Orangina
  • 4 ounces Bourbon or other American whiskey
  • Orange wedge and slices
  • Ice


  1. Mix together sugar and cinnamon and spread on a small plate. In a large pitcher, combine red wine, orange beverage, and Bourbon. Rub an orange wedge around rims of eight rocks glasses, then dip glasses in cinnamon-sugar mixture to coat. Fill with ice, add cocktail mixture, and serve with orange slices.

    i do appreciate sarah's videos for doing a little more than just mixing wine with OJ and piling on premixed fillings on toasts. we want to see you cook and make stuff, sarah!! when you guys do decide to host somebody for a segment once in a while, i think it really has to be worth it (for example, john bash rocked it!), and this is not so much the case here (she even didnt know the recipe). i realise there might be a promotional/financial angle here, but still..

    I'll tell you what! This is a fabulous recipe for a great fall/winter cocktail. Easy to make and very inexpensive. It's nice because it can be made by the pitcher so that you don't have to spend all your time in the kitchen and you can have more time with your guests. Mixture of sugar and cinnamon is just right to rim the glasses.
