How-To

Glittered Fruit Ornaments

Turn your Christmas fir into a whimsical fruit tree with a dried-fruit ornament how-to from the sisters of the Letter 4 blog.

Tools and Materials

  • Oven
  • Knife
  • Citrus fruit
  • Glitter
  • Mod podge or white glue (optional)
  • Brush (optional)
  • Ribbon
  • Brads (optional)

Glittered Fruit Ornament How-To

  1. Preheat oven to 200 degrees. While oven is heating, slice fruit into 1/4-inch slices.
  2. Once oven is heated, place fruit slices directly onto oven rack and bake for 2 to 2 1/2 hours, turning slices once halfway through baking. (Tip: If slices begin to brown at all, they are done and should be removed from the oven immediately.)
  3. Carefully remove slices from oven and sprinkle both sides of each with glitter. They should be just tacky enough to hold the glitter. If slices are very dry, brush with a bit of mod podge or white glue and then glitter.
  4. Place slices on a drying rack and let dry completely.
  5. Once dried, attache a loop of ribbon to each slice using more glue or a small brad.
