Cutting Melons Made Easy

Martha Stewart Living, August 2011

No balancing act here: Wobbly watermelons and other melons are easier to peel when you remove both ends and stand the fruits on a flat surface. Carefully run your knife down the side of the melon to remove the rind, and then slice into wedges.

I've been doing this for over 40 years....works great on melons, any fruit with seeds in the center. I was taught to also peel grapefruit like an orange to save on the "juice in the eye" issues.
