Stitch pouches in just the sizes you need to protect beach reads, your phone, and other gear from splashes and sunblock spatters. Start by choosing from a bunch of different mod oilcloth patterns. Cut a rectangle of oilcloth as wide as the object you want to hold, plus 1/2 inch for seams, and 2 1/4 times its height (for a horizontal pouch, flip these dimensions). Fold to form a pocket shape with right side facing outward, stitch up the edges, and then add self-adhesive Velcro fasteners to secure.

LOL, that's exactly what I said, it must have been loud too 'cause my dogs all looked up from their naps! Fortunately Joanne Fabrics has material from 1/3 that cost. I made one for both my husband and my iPods, his Kindle and my iPad for less than $25.
