Elizabeth Diller
Leading architect Elizabeth Diller chats with Martha about winning the competition to redesign Lincoln Center in this sneak peek of the primetime special, "Women with Vision."
Leading architect Elizabeth Diller, principal of the firm Diller Scofidio + Renfro, is the woman behind some of the most dynamic and avant-garde design projects in the world.
With her husband and partner, Ricardo Scofidio, she designed Switzerland's Blur Building, a project that tested the physical and theoretical limits of architecture by creating a space that makes visitors feel as if they're entering a cloud.
Other high-profile design projects her firm has worked on include the High Line, a public park built on a decommissioned elevated rail line on Manhattan's west side, and a redesign of the plazas at Lincoln Center. In 2010, the New Yorker named the firm's Lincoln Center improvements as among the top 10 events of the year in New York architecture.
Elizabeth Diller's advice to other women for achieving success in a highly competitive, creative field like architecture is to follow their passion: "If you love it, you're going to carve a space for yourself with the vision that you have."
